6:00 PM - 7:00 PM	Youth Martial Arts: Karate - Youth Martial Arts: Karate - 10 Weeks In partnership with Woodbury Academy of Martial Arts, Woodbury Parks & Recreation is proud to offer youth martial arts classes for ages 7 - 15 Program Description:This traditional 10-week Karate program teaches age-appropriate martial arts techniques while building confidence, discipline, coordination, and respect.Students will learn: Kicking and punching techniques Basic throwing and falling Introductory grappling Forms and self-defense skills This traditional style combines the origins of martial arts with modern training methods to help students develop practical skills as they grow and advance.At the conclusion of the 10-week session, students will be eligible to test for their next belt level.Basic Info: Ages:  7-15 10 week session date:  June 2 - August 4, 2026 Day/Time:  Tuesdays 6:00 - 7:00pm Fee:  $150 Location:  Woodbury Academy of Martial Arts / 744 Main Street South, Woodbury, CT  Optional uniform purchase:  approximately $30 Belt grading fee:  $25

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM	Youth Martial Arts: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Youth Martial Arts: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - 10 Weeks In partnership with Woodbury Academy of Martial Arts, Woodbury Parks & Recreation is proud to offer youth martial arts classes for ages 7 - 15 Program Description:This program consists of learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in an age-appropriate way.  Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a grappling and takedown-focused art, great for self-defense, sport, or exercise.  The program involves basic motor skill development drills, technique drills, and live grappling.  Students in this class will learn detailed yet easy-to-understand grappling techniques, and the course is designed to inspire lifelong participation in the art.Students participating in this program will be eligible for stripe grading after completion of their second 10-week session.  Basic Info: Ages:  7-15 10 week session date:  June 4 - August 6, 2026 Day/Time:  Thursdays 7:00 - 8:00pm Fee:  $200 Location:  Woodbury Academy of Martial Arts / 744 Main Street South, Woodbury, CT  Required Equipment: Uniform White belt Mouthpiece Estimated equipment cost:  approximately $60Equipment may be purchased through the school or another vendor.
